What GPS units are supported?

MxGPS can connect to any Garmin GPS unit that uses the proprietary Garmin protocol. More information on this protocol is available on the Garmin website.


Where do I enter my Registration details?

The registration dialog can be accessed via the About dialog. After the product has been successfully registered the registration dialog becomes unavailable.


How to register


The MxGPS Toolbar is grayed out in ArcMap

If the MxGPS Toolbar is grayed out in ArcMap you will need to enable the extension - see the support page for instructions on how to enable the MxGPS extension.


Connection problem: 'GPS Not Found'

If you have problems connecting to your GPS, try the following steps:

  1. Make sure that your GPS is turned on and connected to the computer.
  2. If another application is using the connection port then it may be unavailable to MxGPS.
  3. Make sure that your GPS is configured to use the Garmin protocol when transferring data – check your GPS manual for details about how to change this setting.
  4. Some computers do not reconnect to USB-Serial adapters after returning from sleep mode. To fix this issue remove the USB cable then reconnect it.
